About
Cooper Deas Studio is a London based interior design studio specialising in private residential and boutique commercial projects. Led by it’s Creative Directors Elena Cooper and Kate Deas the studio creates unique spaces with identity and soul. The Studio is known for it’s focus on provenance, sustainability and conscious approach to design. In today’s throwaway culture our interiors are designed to stand the test of time and bring a unique story to your home or business, , creating more beautiful spaces and reducing waste.
The Studio creates unique spaces individually shaped to reflect the lives of the people that will inhabit them. We understand that homes need to work practically for the inhabitants as well as look beautiful and we always start with how the spaces we design will be used both now and in the future. We bring authenticity to each project in the materials and finishing’s that we use and the selection of furniture, lighting and art. We focus on layering and using colour, texture, pattern, scale and juxtaposing old and new to bring your brief to life. We work on projects big and small whether a single room refresh or a full property extension and refurbishment. We know that managing a build can be a stressful process, we all lead busy lives, for this reason we offer an end-to-end service including build management. Our relationships with excellent builders, artisans, craftspeople and artists and continual search for beautiful pieces with a story results in the creation of spaces with a sense of balance and humanity, achieved with a more socially conscious approach.
We are passionate about reducing our impact on the earth without compromising on beauty or quality. We use eco friendly materials and suppliers where possible, champion manufacturing with a social purpose, and use materials that are safe and comfortable to live with creating happy healthy homes. We believe that these principles contribute to the story of the unique spaces we create.
Background
Cooper Deas Studio is led by Elena Cooper and Kate Deas. After graduating Elena worked for ten years for Fine Cell Work, a social enterprise collaborating with leading artists and design experts developing high quality stitched products made in British prisons to sell to the public and interior designers. Elena trained at the Chelsea College of Art and has a specialism in soft furnishings and textiles, as well as a passion for colour. Kate has over fifteen years of experience in period property refurbishment and development. Kate has a love of antiques, modernist furniture and art and her hunt for pieces is a full time vocation. Kate has a well trained eye developed from a career in advertising and a magpie instinct for finding and seeing the potential in properties and pieces.
The Future
We believe the future of interiors looks very different to how it does today. The way we behave and the way we buy is changing and as we move to this more mindful existence focused on sustainability, design becomes more bespoke, more individual and more about you. Cooper Deas Studio starts with the individual, their needs from a space and what inspires them and produces truly unique interiors, spaces with a story and soul.
What People Are Saying About Us
Kit Kemp, internationally renowned interior designer and hotelier
‘I have known Elena for several years when she was working for Fine Cell Work. We worked on many projects together. She is creative yet practical and has many brilliant ideas. The complex nature of many commissions she undertook would have seemed overwhelming but Elena succeeded where many would have failed. Her breadth of knowledge and visualisation is extremely good.’
