Blurton Road, Hackney

The brief was to develop a four storey townhouse which had been uninhabited for a number of years into a light filled family home that worked for a young family.

A large extension was planned and built on the lower ground floor and all structural walls removed to open up the space into a kitchen, dining and snug that flowed to the garden. On the upper levels period details were reinstalled including cornicing and fireplaces, en suites added and the locations of bedrooms and bathrooms reconfigured. We also worked on a full interior redecoration throughout the house using a range of environmentally friendly paints. The focus on sustainability was continued in the kitchen which was made by a local furniture maker using wood sourced sustainably. A number of antique and mid century pieces were sourced and refurbished adding a sense of provenance and continuing the focus on sustainability.

Millward Road, Brixton

The four storey town house had been squatted for a number of years and required full refurbishment throughout and full interior design. The owners were keen that the house had a warm relaxed family space on the lower ground and a more adult creative feel upstairs. We comissioned a social enterprise working with prisoners to hand embroider a number of cushions. We used local artisans to block print fabrics and sourced a number of hand picked heirloom pieces to bring a sense of history and depth to the space.

Roding Road, Clapton

The brief was to refresh the bathrooms in the house bringing a feel of individuality and creativity whilst meeting the owners’ requirement for a calm space to bathe away from stress. We selected a neutral palette inspired by nature and natural handmade moroccan tiles supporting a producer with social purpose and bringing a feeling of imperfection as well as to soften the edges. We built in storage to create a simple silhouette and sourced natural wood antique pieces to bring a sense of richness to the room.

Greenwood Road, London Fields

The sitting room and dining room were dark and dated and the brief was to open these up to create a sociable adult space for entertaining friends. The structural wall between the two areas was removed, full replastering and reinstalling of period details including ceiling roses, cornicing and fireplaces. The window was enlarged to allow more natural light in and replacement sash put in place. Colour scheme was selected to warm the cool North facing room using textures and a natural palette and furniture and lighting sourced from a mixture of modern classics and antiques to add further warmth and humaity to the room.
